Biography Jos Jansen

Jos Jansen was born in Westervoort near Arnhem, the Netherlands. Like many professional trombone players, his musical development started at the local Wind band, St. Gregorius, where also his father and brother played.

At the age of 21 he started his academic study at the Academy of Music of Twente with Gerrit Boomsma. After a nice period he decided to carry his study through in Zwolle with the teachers Paul Woesthuis and Ben van Dijk, where he thereupon graduated in 1989 as teaching musician. During this period Jos was hired as trombonist in the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, where he until this moment still plays.

In 1991 he got his Master Degree in Hilversum with Ben van Dijk and Erik van Lier. After doing a lot of free-lance work, Jos decided to concentrate on his career as soloist. This resulted in his first solo CD Blue Topaz, released in 1993 during the Brass Band Championships with the British Tuba Quartet with Steven Mead.

Since 1993 he has a long record of service, which made him work together with many orchestras. As a soloplayer and specialist on his instrument he is an (internationally) wanted musician.
